You can never have enough puzzle platformers in the world, especially when they look as good as Vesper. In our eyes that means 2021 can’t come soon enough.
Announced by the teams at Deck13 Spotlight and Cordens interactive is a brand new puzzle platformer – Vesper. And it’s due to launch in 2021.
Whilst big details are still thin on the ground – ie, the formats that Vesper will release on for example – just one look at the teaser trailer below will see you instantly interested. And once those formats do get a confirmation, perhaps with an Xbox One/Xbox Series X release on the cards (and if we don’t see an Xbox launch, we’ll be devastated) we’ll be sure to let you know.
For now though, all you need to know is that Vesper is a new IP from Deck13 and Cordens Interactive which has been inspired by the classic-cult 90’s atmospheric platformers. Telling the tale of a small android, Vesper will come with an emphasis on stealth and modern puzzle mechanics as we follow Seven – that small android – who is lost in an eerie planet full of perils and traces of an ancient civilization.
With no powers and no ability to defeat enemies until he finds the Drive Gun, a weapon used to absorb lights, create darkness, and control minds, you can be sure that young Seven is in for a tough time. Frantic chases from relentless machines will therefore force you to take decisions in the blink of an eye, as you attempt to hide from your pursuers and sneak through enemy lines to reach your objective.
It is the Drive Gun which opens things up though, letting Seven absorb light from sources and to create dark spots in which you can hide. And then by injecting that absorbed light into machineries, will find that portals will open and the most deadly of traps will become active. Ultimately it is up to you to control your opponents with light and dispose of them after have exploited their abilities, taking control of your destiny, and deciding the future of the Android’s race.
We’ll be sure to bring you further news concerning the hugely interesting Vesper as we move forward – and will certainly follow this up with release formats and windows as and when we can. For now though, kick back with the teaser below. if you’re sold by what you see you can get wishlisting it over on Steam.
