A teaser for Call of Duty 2020 – or Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War – recently appeared to a player in the middle of a Warzone match.
Footage of the teaser was shared online by a Twitter user who goes by the handle NutterButterAF. Check it out below – the Call of Duty 2020 reference is towards the end of the video, so make sure to watch the whole thing (it’s pretty short).

If you didn’t quite catch it, I’ve embedded a screenshot of the relevant section below, which is also courtesy of NutterButterAF.
As you can probably see, it says, “know your history,” and only appears for a brief second amid static and distortion. Players aren’t quite sure of what it means exactly, but it’s too well-made and emphatic to be coincidental.
NutterButterAF went on to elaborate on how they discovered the Call of Duty 2020 reference in Warzone, which you can read about in the tweet below.
FOR EVERYONE ASKING we got a red key card on the train went to the bunker almost out of bounds on the lower end of the map looted it took the car about 30 seconds later the file played @charlieINTEL

“For everyone asking we got a red key card on the train went to the bunker almost out of bounds on the lower end of the map looted it took the car about 30 seconds later the file played,” they wrote.
Quite an obscure route, but it appears that Infinity Ward had deliberately hidden the teaser there, patiently waiting for somebody to discover it. If it was a common glitch, it probably would have looked significantly messier.
In related news, Call of Duty: Warzone is going to be “very” tightly integrated with Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War, so tying the pair together at this early stage actually makes a whole lot of sense in the long run. Maybe this teaser is the first sign that said integration has already begun.
Also, in case you hadn’t heard, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is free to play this weekend for all Warzone players.
