It’s extremely rare for Team17 to ever publish a dud, with a super rich history of gaming experiences like Yooka-Laylee, Yoku’s Island Express and Golf With Your Friends under their belt. And it’s looking highly likely that the satirical roguelite Going Under won’t be doing anything different when it launches on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC in September.
Announced for a September 24th 2020 launch on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC, Going Under has been created by those at Aggro Crab Games, with Team17 picking up the usual publishing rights to ensure gamers across the globe can get entwined in the fight against corporate ghouls.
Going Under was first announced back in October 2019, but now, or at least come September 2020, players will be able to head into a series of high-tech conglomerate dungeons that are located under the offices of the disruptive drinks brand Fizzle, as they follow the adventure of the corporation’s newest Gen Z marketing intern, Jackie Fiasco. You see, Jackie has been sent on a bit of a dangerous mission to rid Fizzle of the monstrous employees and former CEOs from the failed start-ups that came before, utilising anything that comes to hand – staplers, laptops, and even potted plants – to complete her adventure.
Going Under key features include:
- Fight the failures: Battle through the satirical dungeons of procedurally-generated remains of failed and cursed tech start-ups underneath the bowels of Fizzle
- Everything’s a weapon: Potted plants, giant pencils, laptops, and even body pillows are weapons for Jackie as she faces monsters created from the former employees of the failed start-ups
- Skill up and synergise: Combine skills bought from the company’s (subsidised) café for a selection of blue-sky thinking, monster-beating synergies!
- Learn from your mentors: Complete tasks for fellow employees, unlock them as mentors, and gain access to their powerful abilities
- Break the glass ceiling: Overcome the power-crazed CEOs of dungeons based on dating sites, gig economy recruiters, and cryptocurrency to help boost your employer’s bottom line.
