We’ve heard previously how Goichi ‘Suda51’ Suda is a Marvel fan and would “love” to work on one of the company’s video game projects, and it seems there have been some developments.

In a recent interview with Japanese publication Automaton, the director of No More Heroes III was asked about Grasshopper Manufacture’s plans for the next 10 years and revealed the studio had been in talks with Marvel.

Here’s the full comment from Suda, courtesy of VGC:

“From now on, we’d like to create three new IPs and launch them one by one.

“However, we have also said that we would like to make IPs that are based on attractive original works, if there are any. I think that will depend on the discussions we have with Marvel Studios. If Marvel Studios comes up with something good, we’ll think about it.”

He then joked: “I’m sorry, I was saying that from the top down, I’m just kidding.

“But we’ve had a few meetings with Marvel, and we’ve talked about the possibility of working together on something. We hope that the power of video games will help to boost these opportunities.”

Last April, during a chat with IGN Japan, Suda mentioned how he would be interested in working on a Marvel game featuring a character like Deadpool:

“But [in terms of] the kind of things I’d love to do, I’d also love to work with Marvel on a Shatterstar or Deadpool game, something sort of Grasshopper-y like that. Maybe a Quicksilver title of some sorts. So, Marvel, you know.”

Activision also previously approached him about a Deadpool game, but plans fell through.

In somewhat related news, last October, Grasshopper Manufacture announced it had joined the Chinese video game giant, NetEase – the same company that’s teamed up with Monkey Ball And Yakuza Creator Toshihiro Nagoshi.
