GTA 6 Will Have a Playable Female Protagonist — Report

PS4

GTA 6 is to feature a playable female protagonist, the latest reports surrounding the game claim. In addition to the new female lead, other information about the hotly-anticipated game have also seemingly been leaked. This includes a potential release date period and plans to add new cities to the game after launch.

GTA 6 female protagonist to feature in the game’s campaign

Claims of the GTA 6 female protagonist, as well as other details about the upcoming game, come from a report on Rockstar published by Bloomberg‘s Jason Schreier. According to Schreier, the new playable female character will be Latina.

If the reports are accurate, this will be the first time that a GTA game has placed a female in the protagonist role. While GTA Online gives players the option to have a female avatar, the campaigns of the main series of games, as well as their spin-offs, have been absent of a female lead.

It remains to be seen if this main character will be joined by others, sharing storyline progression in the same vein as GTA 5, which ended with Michael, Trevor, and Franklin all being playable.

In addition to reports of a female protagonist, Bloomberg has also stated that sources close to the studio claim that GTA 6 will begin in a Miami-esque location (potentially Vice City) and will be updated with “new missions and cities on a regular basis.”

As for how the game’s development is going, Bloomberg reports that Rockstar Games has grown to become more progressive in its handling of working conditions and crunch.

In release date news, GTA 6 is reportedly targeting a launch between April 2023 and March 2024.

In other PlayStation news, Hogwarts Legacy might release in early December, according to the latest reports. PS Plus’ Essential August 2022 games have leaked ahead of the official announcement. The Star Wars KOTOR Remake has been delayed indefinitely after two directors were fired.
