If you’re serious about your cars and you love Forza Horizon 5 then the Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges will no doubt be of great importance. But they aren’t always simple to complete; sometimes you just need a little hand with the fastest cars and the best tunes. And so that’s what we’ve sorted as Series 12 rolls into Autumn.
New Seasonal Championships are in place this week, as are some additional PR Stunts and the joy of The Trial. Expect to be found snapping away with the Photo Challenge, some Treasure Hunt goodness and the madness of The Eliminator too.
Part 1: #Forzathon Weekly Challenge – 1107
This week the object of the weekly challenge is a little unusual, to say the least. We need to own and do stuff in the #1107 Desert Dingo Stock Bug from 1970, a car not known for being massively fast, based as it is on one of the most asthmatic, underpowered cars ever released on an unsuspecting world, the arse-engined VW Beetle.
Still, at least it only cost 25,000 credits from the Autoshow, And that’s your lot, as it isn’t a prize this week.
Chapter 1 – Lock, Stock and 2 Smokin’ Tyres
However you obtain it, take it for a spin, and step one is done.
Chapter 2 – Beetle in the Baja
Now, keep it stock and win a dirt race, as apparently Class 11 means no upgrades.
Apart from the bigger wheels and roll cage and no windows, of course!
Should be fairly straight forward, but lower the difficulty if you are struggling.
Chapter 3 – Blazing a Trail
Now we have to win a total of 6 stars from Trailblazer events in this little thing, and while in stock trim it is very slow, at least it makes up for it with terrible handling.
It isn’t clear whether we need to stay stock or not for this event, so I played it on the safe side, and went for a short Trailblazer that can be repeated quickly to rack up the stars.
Chapter 4 – That’s a Wrap
Next, take a photo of the Desert Dingo with, and I quote, “Mexico as your backdrop”. So, wherever you ended up after the last run at a Trailblazer, take a photo of the car and that is this week’s challenge complete.
Part 2 – Weekly Challenges
It is time for more of the type of things we come here every week for, with PR Stunts, races, the Trial and even my personal favourite, the rancid dollop of the Eventlab event to have a crack at. Let’s see what we need in order to win big, shall we?
The Trial – Cross-Country Sports
Ah, the Trial, the weekly ordeal of trying to make people off of the interweb cooperate just long enough to beat some Unbeatable Driverbots. Assuming fate smiles kindly on you, and you don’t end up teamed up with Crashy McTeamsmasher, you’ll want to know what’s in store, yes?
Well, it is Sports Utility Heroes class cars this week, tuned to a maximum of B Class 700, and off the not vast choice, I went with the Maserati Levante S, in stock trim as it is almost at the ceiling as it comes. Gotta save those pennies where we can!
Winning will get you an Alumi Craft C10 Race Car.
Eventlab – Edelmaenn Presents Jungle-Coaster /XE /Day
Another instalment in my favourite ongoing collection of fun, the Eventlab this week is fitted with a very catchy title and the promise of yet more stupidity.
For this game/race we have to use an Extreme-E vehicle, and so I went with my favourite, the No.44 X44, another snappy name if ever I saw one! Mine is lightly fettled, and the share code is: 164790581.
Now, its not often that I am moved to criticise these events directly as regular readers will know, but this is the worst one of these events I have played.
There is no flow to the track, it is full of stupid jumps that you have to clear or get stuck, and I have managed to get myself so stuck that even resetting the car position just puts me right back at a jump that I can’t make. Thanks Edelmaenn, but if you could never make another track again, it would be too soon.
I think in one of the circles of Hell, the people that make these stupid courses should be forced to play them for all eternity.
Winning this event gives us a Puebla Mexican Suit.
Horizon Arcade – Mini Games
The return of normal service after that travesty, the Horizon Arcade mini games make a return, and we need to complete three stages in any one of them.
Choose from Drift, Speed, Chaos, Air and Wreckage. Of these, a Drift event is my favourite, mainly because I know that in my trusty Formula Drift Supra Mk IV, I can complete a full run on my own. But more people will make it easier.
Complete this to gain a mighty 3 points towards this week’s prizes.
Danger Sign – Cascadas
An S2 Class car, of any flavour you fancy, is needed to make this jump, and a mighty distance it is too. 335 metres to be exact, which is a long way to have your wheels off the floor!
Now, as the approach from the south is mainly on road, I went with a car that is built for extreme speeds, and used a trusty Koenigsegg Agera, the same as last week! The share Code is 109282883, and hitting the ramp at 230 mph saw me clear the distance. Just watch the trees on the way in.
Have a Super Wheelspin for your trouble.
Speed Zone – Cordillera
Another event, the same restrictions, and an average speed of 120mph is required to win.
Now, as this one is off road, the Agera isn’t going to cut it, and so I went with a Renault 8 Gordini, share code: 777821777.
This is very challenging, with some tricky curves, but cut as much as you dare and you should be okay.
Another Super Wheelspin awaits if you can conquer the dirt.
Trail Blazer – The Juggernaut
Same restrictions apply here as before, an S2 Class car, any one you fancy, and a race across country. We have to finish this Trailblazer with more than 100 seconds on the clock, and it is going to be tough but do-able I feel.
I went with a BMW X5 Forza Edition, fettled to be good off road, and with a few tree collisions on the way still managed to clear the course with 102 seconds left. It is a long run though, so don’t be shy about using the rewind if you need to. The share code is: 519084427.
Another Super Wheelspin is your reward.
Seasonal Championship – The Titan
Another week, another very long race to attempt, and this time it is the turn of the Titan race.
We need to use an Unlimited Buggy, ironically limited to a B Class 700, and so I chose the trusty Penhall Cholla, with a share code of: 118918756. Ten minutes of carnage will ensue, but this car will win it.
Your Reward is a Bentley Bentayga, which is something I suppose.
Seasonal Championship – Cross-Country Endurance
Another week, another selection of five races instead of the usual three, and this time we need to use an Unlimited Offroad vehicle, limited to A Class 800. Someone should send the folk at Playground Games a dictionary with Unlimited underlined…
Anyway, the answer to the question is the stupidly fast Jeep Trailcvat, and in this case, the share code is: 118411445.
A Toyota Land Cruiser, an FJ40, will be yours for either winning the championship solo, or the majority of races in a convoy.
Seasonal Championship – Cross-Country Odyssey
A series restricted to only C Class 600, but also to only Pickups and 4X4’s? Oh my. Still, let’s make the best of a bad job and choose something fun, shall we?
I went with a Land Rover Defender, with a share code of: 123449250. This may be slow, but so is the rest of the field, so strap in for some mild racing.
You will win a Jeep Cherokee ‘14 for your trouble, which just happens to be the car we need for this week’s photo challenge. Tidy!
Part 3 – Other Challenges
Just the usual business here this week – a bit of a photo, a dash of a treasure hunt and a spot of the Eliminator. Let’s see what’s what, shall we?
Photo Challenge – #INTOTHEBAJA
Take a picture of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee SRT at the Baja Festival location. Sounds easy enough, right?
Largely, that’s because it is! I’ll share my efforts below, alongside the location in case you get confused easily.
Your prize for getting all snap happy? A dial up modem horn. I think I’m the only one old enough to remember dial up modems, especially the 9600 baud versions.
Treasure Hunt – Dune Buggy
A bit of a brain teaser this week – ”Only a buggy could get so muddy and leave your opponents across the country” reads the clue, and so I deduce it is a cross country race needing to be won in a buggy?
Well, the picture accompanying the clue is of the Desert Dingo again, so I dusted it off and tried to see if this was the key. And what do you know, it was!
I’ll include a photo of the location to assist in your hunting.
The chest contains 100 FP, which is always nice.
The Eliminator – Battle Royale
You know the routine here by now, take part in The Eliminator, and survive to be in the top 30 to complete this challenge.
Whether you prefer to find a swish car and try to force the issue, or hide in a bush on top of a mountain (my preferred method) just try your best.
Managing to stay in the running for long enough will net you a “MWAHAHAHA” Forza link phrase, in case you are going for world domination…
Part 4 – Hot Wheels Events
Series 12 – Autumn covers the bases with the Hot Wheels events too.
Speed Trap – Hammer’s Shadow
In keeping with the other events, we need an S2 Class 998 car, of whatever flavour you fancy.
Given that we need to go past the speed trap at 250mph, it’s time for that Agera again! Same share code as before: 109282883 and you should be golden.
I approached from the far side of the big loop, and was doing around 260 by the time I hit the trap.
Another Super Wheelspin for your trouble.
Seasonal Championship – On Orange Alert
Sports Utility Heroes, A Class 800, and the only car worthy of the job, in my garage at least, is the Bentley Bentayga, share code: 118484657. This should be quick enough to win the championship alone, or maybe you too can drag a friend through, maybe a friend who doesn’t play as much as they used to… [oi! – Ed]
Anyway, winning will get you a Chevrolet ZR2, which is very American indeed.
And that’s about it for this week. The two Monthly Rivals challenges will still be in place if you haven’t yet completed them, and as always they are super simple to action – just drive, cleanly, around the Bola Ocho Circuit and the Forza EV Emerald Circuit.
From there you can go and grab your car rewards. Series 12 as a whole comes with the Audi RS e-tron sitting behind 80pts and the McLaren 765LT running 160pts. Much easier to obtain and fully grabbable this week are Autumn’s offerings – the Audi RS 7 ‘21 for 20pts and the Toyota 4Runner for 40pts.
If you don’t yet have a copy of Forza Horizon 5 then it is playable on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S or PC via the Xbox Store. It’s on Game Pass too whilst the Hot Wheels expansion costs real money.
Please remember to head into the comments if you like this guide. Or if there are things we can change that will make it easier for you, give us a shout. We’re on the usual socials too.
