Gather round, gather round: ‘tis the spooky season, so roast your marshmallows on the fire, as we tell ghost stories!
Well, Chorus Worldwide will be this Halloween season, as they release Paper Ghost Stories: 7PM – the first instalment into an anthology horror series developed by Cellar Vault Games – onto Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, following a PC release all the way back in September 2020.
Told through the medium of paper cut-outs, but still giving the intimate visual novel feel that you want from such a story-driven game, 7PM isn’t the longest of titles, but is instead designed to give you a taste of the fear that the anthology hopes to deliver going forward. You’ll be led through the story of three children as they invite a stranger to play with them, before soon being visited by terrifying apparitions and the like – what did you think was going to happen if you invited the strange neighbour to play?!
Soon you’ll be heading down dark corridors, seeing ominous messages written in blood, and many other hallmarks of a playdate you really don’t want to stay for dinner during – it’s all super spooky stuff, which makes the cutesy papery art-style all the more off-putting.
By interacting with the residents of the apartment block you find yourself in, as well as partaking in challenges and minigames, you’ll slowly uncover the mystery behind this paranormal phenomenon, and will surely have you chomping at the bit for more in the Paper Ghost Stories series.
If you fancy picking up a copy of the game, you can do so on Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One for just £3.49 via the Xbox Store. Alternatively, the game is available on PC.
