We have the latest Japanese Charts data and, as expected, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have absolutely demolished the competition, selling an astonishing 2,537,292 units in the duos first week of sale. This milestone was more than enough to knock Splatoon 3 off the top spot, but Nintendo’s shooter still pulled in some respectable numbers, selling a total of 36,958 units to bring its total up to 3,368,155.
Elsewhere, Sonic Frontiers has dropped down to number 10 with a total of 5,837 units sold. Having said that, the Switch version is still proving to be the most popular with consumers, with the PS5 and PS4 versions falling out the top ten entrely.
Otherwise, we’ve got a few other newcomers to the charts, including SympathyKiss, Cardfight!! Vanguard Dear Days (what a name), and Monochrome Mobius: Rights and Wrongs Forgotten (what a name!) for the PS4.
Needless to say, it seems Scarlet and Violet’s technical drawbacks couldn’t hamper their first week sales, though it’ll be interesting to see if the games can keep up the momentum now that gamers are more clued into the many, many issues.
