The first in game in the sub-series was Super Mario Kart, which was launched in 1992 on the Super Nintendo. This version was followed by Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart Super Circuit, Mario Kart: Double Dash, Mario Kart DS, Mario Kart Wii, Mario Kart 7 and the latest entry Mario Kart 8. The sub-series has sold well over 100 million copies to date.
