You can’t swing an 8-bit cat around at the moment without hitting a retro-style eShop game, but that doesn’t mean they’re not good. One that we’re intrigued by is 6Souls, which arrives on 3rd December priced £7.99 / €7,99 / $7.99USD.
Developed by BUG-Studio and published by Ratalaika Games, on the surface it looks like a hybrid of Castlevania and Celeste, with decent mobility, locations full of skeletons and more. It certainly seems to have its own identity too, however, including sections where you play as faithful dog Butch, which is no bad thing.
It’s structure will actually break up into chapters with stages within; intriguingly the higher the difficulty the longer the game.
The story in 6Souls is presented in an interesting and inventive way with its tangle of events that unwind the further you proceed. 6Souls presents 10 main chapters, with more than 80 levels in the normal game mode, and more than 120 levels in the difficult mode, complete with bosses, this delightful presentation offers many hidden surprises that draw you deeper into the story.
We quite like the look of this one – let us know what you think in the comments.
